Dr. Barbara Green, Ph.D

Dr. Barbara Green, Ph.D. is passionate about helping South Shore individuals, and the communities in which they live, benefit from well-researched and effective approaches to health psychology. Most recently she co-founded the Center for Integrative Counseling and Wellness, following a career spanning more than twenty-five years as a licensed clinical psychologist in private practice. Dr. Green tirelessly seeks to benefit her clients and the community; she founded the Division of Psychiatry and Psychology at South Shore Hospital, and served as Chair of the Division for several years. She remains an active presence within the hospital, continuing her twenty years of experience serving as the Medical Director for Youth Health Connection, as well as serving on staff at Walden Behavioral Care. She is a sought after public speaker at conferences, local venues and community events.

Barbara has a special interest in working with women facing life transitions including divorce and loss, chronic illness and health psychology. Dr. Green has a clinical approach that incorporates research based interventions with a developmental/systems orientation and skill- based strategies including: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectic Behavioral Therapy, and Life Style Management among others.

Dr. Green has completed research on adolescent and adult depression, and she is one of the contributing authors of HeadSmart: A Guide to Understanding Concussions. Furthermore, Barbara writes a monthly column for the Youth Health Connection newsletter. She also serves on the Clinical Advisory Committee of the Greater New England Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and consults with the Bozeman Montana Cancer Support Community.

Dr. Green completed her B.S., M.Ed. and Ph.D. at Pennsylvania State University. She did her post doctoral training at South Shore Mental Health Center. Barbara is an outspoken proponent of education, early intervention, and pragmatic approaches that lead people to live positive lives filled with mental and physical wellness and health.
